白雪皑皑的南极冰川上，生物学家克利尼斯与前来探宝的库尔曼一伙人相遇了。当一只企鹅从冰川的缝隙里衔来一颗红宝石交到克利尼斯手上时，却不巧让库尔曼一伙人发现。克利尼斯准备起程回国前的一天晚上，库尔曼一伙偷走红宝石，并在企鹅身上装上了一只芯片，准备用定位仪器跟踪这只能给他们带来财富的企鹅。克利尼斯连夜抢回那颗宝石，带着救出的那只企鹅回到了德国。在专家的鉴定和讲述下，克利尼斯得知了一段关于红宝石的传奇故事。原来，十六世纪时，一个叫克罗斯的海盗组织抢劫了两艘从非洲印第安人居住区运往美洲的船只，船上装满了珠...
